About Me

Hello! I am an empty-nester mom and wife who is excited to have time to dive deeper into my passion of helping learners of all ages gain confidence and skills to feel empowered. The name of my company is not a cliché, but something I have proactively worked towards during my 30+ years of teaching!

I have always loved teaching! I began my journey in high school tutoring elementary kids, and even back then, I could see that building relationships and seeing the whole child was imperative when working with them.

I graduated college with a teaching degree with an emphasis in reading. I earned my Teacher Certifications in Reading, Elementary Education, English in the secondary grades, and Special Education and English as a Second Language for all grade levels. I have taught classes in ISD public schools, public charter schools, private schools, and homeschool schools.

In 2018 I organically began my own business where I began partnering directly with parents and schools. I tutored students and taught tailored courses to individuals and small groups at various locations, including schools.

In my teaching journey I have learned that our nation has not only done a poor job teaching students to read the last 30 years, but also the universities have taught teachers incorrect information about how people learn to read as well as most of the popular and recommended materials sold do not utilize how our brains learn best! (See Resources tab for more information.) I have spent the past several years researching the intricacies of the many components involved in the reading process and how our brains learn best. I was also trained in various programs and processes, all the while scrutinizing them to discover their effectiveness and efficiency. It was essential to me for people to gain improved reading skills as quickly as possible. I am excited to share that I have been using the best of what I discovered and I have seen the positive results! I am empowered to effectively and efficiently teach people of all ages and abilities to read more proficiently!

Additionally in my journey, I have had the honor of working with families who want, or need, to have school look differently than traditional classes. I have partnered with parents to talk through their goals for their children and we created plans that I would carry out for them or with them, as well as I have offered information of other educational opportunities they were not aware of. I have worked with individuals and small groups teaching various things from ELAR, organizational/planning skills, writing, to anything the child needed to feel comfortable and ease into subjects. I enjoy coming alongside families to help them with their educational journey.
